Puma distributes simpatrically with jaguar through Central and South America, never the less puma is more adaptable that jaguar having wider distribution. Puma, as jaguar, is legally protected by Guatemalan law, however it faces serious threats such as habitat loss, prey hunting, hunting and direct prosecution when in conflict with humans for domestic animal predation. The Maya Biosphere Reserve is the last strong hold for significant puma population sin Guatemala.  In the last fifteen years density estimations have been conducted using camera trap methodology androbust data exist for four sites. Studies results indicate that the highest density was registered at La Gloria industrial concession and El Lechugal area. At present data from other four sites in the MBR are been analyzed. This data will allow the exploration of relation among jaguar and puma densities through the evaluated sites in the MBR.
